About the Event
We encounter so many inspiring makers and performers, each one of them so rich in their work, so specific in their approach to a creation, so different from each other.
And we are curious about them.
For that we ask several artists to let us enter their “kitchen” and have a look at their universes, at what inspires them and to their creative process.
The next Mime Kitchen will be with Francesca Lazzeri!
Francesca Lazzeri (1991) graduated in 2016 in visual and physical performing arts at the Amsterdam University of Arts (Mime Education).
Since her graduation she’s been actively working as a theatre maker, dramaturg, adviser/mentor at the mime education and as a physical performer. Between 2015 and 2019 she has been making performances inside the performance collective Wild Vlees. Afterwards she continued creating work under her own name.
Francesca distinguishes herself for her uncompromising, outspoken and direct signature. Her work is highly visual and often physically demanding. Her performances address the visitors in their intimate and personal space, questioning and problematising how we live with one another in western European countries. The work of Francesca searches for a dialogue with different contexts both within the Netherlands and abroad.
As a performer her starting point is movement, performed with transparency and directness.
Francesca is and has been creating work thanks to the support of partners Theaterfestival Boulevard, Festival Cement, Frascati Productie, SPRING Festival, Het Huis Utrecht, Schweigman&, Workspacebrussels, Theater Rotterdam and PLAN talentontwikkeling Brabant, Fonds Podiumkunsten (Nieuwe makers regeling 2017-19).
Previous works When everything is human, the human is an entirely different thing (nominated in 2016 for the BNG New Theatermaker prize), and An incomplete life (2017), both made with Tamar Blom, have been touring in the Netherlands and abroad. Individual creations are Everything must be interpreted as intensity (2017) and Dear friend, wolves have always eaten sheep (2018), both made with the support of Frascati Productie.
Her last performance installation my shadow used to have a density (august 2020) was created in co-production with Theaterfestival Boulevard, Schweigman&, with the support of PLAN Talentontwikkeling Brabant, Fonds Podiumkunsten (Nieuwe Makers regeling), in collaboration with SPRING Festival, Festival Cement, Workspacebrussels, Kunstencentrum de Vooruit. In 2018 Wild Vlees was nominated for the audience prize of brabant cultuur.
